Thursday Thirteen #109 - Ghost Town

When we took our trip to New Mexico it was fabulous. As I have mentioned before I took over 830 photos, some of my favorites are of Cuervo, New Mexico, a “ghost town” that we passed on our way home. As was usual for me I had my camera in hand while we were driving down the road, snapping away at anything that caught my eye when I saw these amazing old buildings, but before I could really focus on what I was seeing we were past the town.  I just looked at Big D and he knew it was one of those moments that he had to endure with living with someone who has a passion, one for photography and for old buildings. The next exit was about 10 miles down the road, (thanks to navigation we didn’t have to guess) and we headed back to what was one of the highlights for me on our trip. It was like traveling back in time when I stepped out of our car, a little creepy also since it was deserted and you felt like you were being watched! But I got lost in photographing the scenery so that feeling soon left. We didn’t stay near long enough for me, but I did get some good shots…so here is my Thursday Thirteen this week, the ghost town of Cuervo, New Mexico, enjoy! innocent

Monday Musings - Amarillo

Our first day of our trip we drove to Amarillo, Texas to spend the night and to go to Palo Duro Canyon. There is a wonderful show in the canyon about Texas with songs, dancing, fireworks, that just takes your breath away!

Imagine driving in the Texas Panhandle where you can see forever mind you and then all of a sudden there’s this amazing canyon! It was so beautiful.

Palo Duro Canyon

Palo Duro Canyon, the drive down, was a little hairy for me…. shock

The Theater Stage

I have never seen a more beautiful stage….they use the whole area you see even the very top! See where that tree stands in the middle (look really hard ) ), during the show a deer wandered up there slowly just looking around. I tried to capture it on my camera but because we couldn’t use flash it didn’t turn out. I was so disappointed! (

Rider on the Ridge, it was amazing to see that rider fly across the ridge holding the Texas flag.

The evening ended with a fantastic fireworks show and the final view was this. Beautiful!

If you ever had a question whether things in Texas are bigger or not….

Here’s your proof…. )

The Big Texan is an Amarillo landmark, they are known for the 72 oz. steak! If you can eat the whole steak within an hour, it’s free. And no we didn’t eat there! lol

Well, I guess that will do for now…mind you that is just our first day and not even making a dent in the 830 photos I took! innocent But I’ll be kind and not bombard you all at once!

How was your weekend? Talk to me!
