Little update since I have been neglecting my blogging duties.

Well Texas is showing that it’s bipolar again. Saturday it was 80° and sunny, today it’s 30° with freezing rain. Never a dull moment in good ol’ Texas!

I’m feeling a bit better, still not able to eat much, but that’s the norm with diverticulitis. Tough way to lose weight though!

2008 has been a very good year for our family and filled with many milestones.  It was a year that will go down in our memories as a special year for many reasons. We celebrated Big D getting his Master’s, our 25th anniversary, our future DIL graduated with her BA,  the planning of the wedding of our son, and our daughter finally found a job she loves, just to name a few of the many highlights.  I am looking forward to what the new year will bring.

Wishing each of you a very happy and prosperous 2009!

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions? Not any more. Why or why not? I never kept them and then felt guilty, no sense in that!

Who do you nominate as “Man or Woman of the Year” for 2008? My husband! He received his Masters this year, works so that we live very comfortably, and has made this year very special!

What was your greatest accomplishment in 2008? Celebrating our 25th anniversary.

Christmas was great, we drove to the in-laws early Christmas Eve morning and stayed there till late afternoon before we headed back. That evening we enjoyed the hospitality of my aunt and uncle, it’s been tradition in the last few years to go to their home for dinner Christmas Eve. It was good food (enchilada’s, fajitas, beans and rice, plus all kinds of sweets!) drinks and great company! We had some really great laughs when they gave us our gifts, they created a “deja vu” calendar for each family! It was so much fun flipping through and looking at all the photos!

Christmas morning we didn’t get up till 9:30!! It was so wonderful! I love having older kids! After we exchanged presents with each other, and had breakfast (I made a really yummy breakfast casserole) I still had a couple presents to wrap to take to my moms. Yes, this was the year I was so behind it was embarrassing!

We arrived at my mom and step-dad’s around 3 and the fun began! It’s never a dull moment when my sister,  her family and mine get together. It was a wonderful holiday and I was exhausted, but good exhausted. 

I’ve already taken down my Christmas decorations on the inside of the house, it was driving me nuts. Hopefully next year I’ll get into it more than I did this year. My son called me a Scrooge, gee…..I wonder why on earth I’m so freakin’ tired son?

Speaking of my son, he’s doing better, still hobbling around on the crutches and can’t put weight on that leg yet. He has rehab twice a week and that seems to be helping.

So that’s my update….How was your Christmas?

3. I wish I never had to buy batteries and toilet paper again, though one has nothing to do with the other!

4. Having kids has helped me change my life.

5. I know the song Beautiful Day by heart.

6. If I weren’t so afraid, I would like to hang glide.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to going to simply relax and watch movies, tomorrow my plans include take down the Christmas tree and what decorations I have out (I want my house back to normal and Sunday, I want to just enjoy the day with my family!

First let me get this out of the way…….Eeek!!! But since I am at a friends and if this were to happen I would never hurt a friends feelings, so I would discretely remove the offending pest and suddenly be through with my salad. Of course, I would have to excuse myself and the dead offender would get a ride down to the city sewer system to visit his families ghosts. Voila, no one the wiser and friendship saved!

I refuse to answer this question as it could make my life miserable!!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing, simply relaxing, tomorrow my plans include going Christmas shopping because if I don’t no one will have any presents and Sunday, I want to finish my Christmas shopping!

1. My all time favorite Christmas movie is “It’s A Wonderful Life.” It’s tradition that we watch it as a family every Christmas Eve before we go to bed. Love this movie!

2. “Miracle of 34th Street”, one of the best classic holiday movies there is!

3. I don’t know if you’d call it a Christmas movie, but I think of it as a winter movie, “Narnia, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.” I could watch this movie over and over again! It’s magical!

4. “The Santa Clause” is one of our favorite family movies. Love Tim Allen as Santa!

5. “The Santa Clause 2″  and “The Santa Clause 3″ are also great! We make sure we watch all three each season!

6. And what Christmas would be complete without a viewing of “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation!” Need a laugh, this is your movie! This movie makes an appearance year round with our family….just don’t ask my sister to say grace!!

7. “Deck the Halls” very cute! We’ve added this one to our DVD collection of holiday movies!

8. “A Christmas Story” great movie! Best line…”You’ll shoot your eye out kid!” Love when TNT plays it non-stop all day, can’t get enough of it!

9. “Elf” and not being a huge Will Farrell fan I have to say, I love this movie!!

10. “Christmas with the Kranks”Loved this movie too…have you noticed I love a lot of these movies? LOL Big D and I tease each other that this will be us.

11. “A Christmas Carol” starring Allistair Sims as Scrooge..this is the best version ever made!

12. “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is one of those movies that just brings you back to feeling like a kid again.
