Weekend Update

It was an absolutely wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! I had the opportunity to spend Mother’s day with my mother, sister and all our family. We went to the Scarborough Renaissance Festival, something I have always wanted to do. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I had only seen the commercials and checked out the website, so while we were waiting at the front gate for my sister and her bunch to join us I have to admit, I was surprised at those who were walking up in full dress. Some folks really get into the Renaissance Festival! shock While waiting a “priest” walked up and began chatting with me, during the conversation he asked,

“Are you a fair virgin?” embarrassed

My mom almost choked, my husband roared laughing, and everyone else found it hilarious! I just gave the “priest” the look of “do I look like a virgin?” angel I did reply that I refused to answer that question on the grounds it would incriminate me! ) And that folks, is how our day in 1533 began!

Here’s just a few things we experienced….(I’m going to break this up in several posts since I ended up taking over 400 photos! shock )

We were surrounded by wenches and ladies but it was the knights (handsome ones at that! ) ) that caught my camera lens! mrgreen

He proclaimed to the crowd after I shot this photo, “She shot me with a Canon!” lol

Dark Knights were also handsome, flashing their dangerous grins….

There was music floating in the air all around us! We caught one act that blew us away, the band ”The Rogues” was fantastic! If you like good Celtic music, check them out! Great music & sense of humor too….

The Rogues

There’s just something about a man in a kilt!! luv

There is a ton of food, so choosing what to eat became a huge decision! We settled on Turkey legs, which were delicious, even though you felt like a barbarian eating one! shy

Big D & Brit chowing down!

After our turkey legs we saw many hams, of the two legged kind…

And what Renaissance Festival would be complete without royalty, Queen Anne & King Henry VIII graced us with their presence.

Though they were the official “royalty” at the festival I have to say I think my mom made the best Queen for the day!

She was so regal sitting there even stranger’s bowed to her as they passed by! )

That’s enough for now, I still have lot’s to share but that will have to wait! It was a great day, lots of wonderful memories were made and lots of laughs with the people I love.

Hope your weekend was fun filled and spent with the ones you love! innocent

Weekend Update

I am recovering from another busy weekend! What about you? I’m still in a lot of pain from my back, makes thing a bit hard when you have much to do! Did manage to get D to do most of my planting for me!! He’s my hero! luv We worked on it off and on all weekend! We’ve planted Oleander, Hibiscus, Braided Hibiscus, Mandeville, Ferns, and courtesy of my great, wonderful sister, two huge banana trees (thanks sis ) ) ! Can’t wait to see them grow!!

D had some digging up to do. He had actually killed three Oleander bushes (kind of hard since Oleander is quite hardy, but he managed! roll ). We replaced those that were dead and then he had to dig up two large bushes of Pampas Grass (they scratch you when you walk by! ( ), we planted the banana trees in their place.

Working hard!! He’s so sore, he’s not use to manual labor! lol

This little area off our patio was very crowded with Pampas Grass that actually covered up the cute fountain! D dug the Pampas Grass up (again every time you walked by it would scratch you, hate that stuff!) and we placed the potted Hibiscus in it’s place. Nice little spot now! Here’s a few photos of our work:

The bunny’s name is Theodore by the way! )

More plants on the patio.

Just one of our Hibiscus blooms!!

Fern’s added by hot tub for tropical feel. See our new little friend? His name is Sebastian! )

The Oleander is planted behind the hot tub, it’s hard to see in this photo. I’ll wait till it’s blooming really good and take a photo then!

So at least we got that stuff done this weekend, even though I wasn’t able to help much it feels good to have that checked off our to-do list. ) What did you do this weekend?

Have a great week!! )
