The trucks arrived on Tuesday, yes you read that right, I said TRUCKS! It took two 18-wheelers and a crew of eight to bring all our belongings.

The crew was a lot of fun, so they made it a fun day, with all the joking going on. And if I wasn’t laughing folks, I would have been crying when I saw all those boxes coming out of those trucks!

Here’s my step mom doing her Vanna impersonation, checking each and every item as it came off the truck into the house. I’ve done this procedure before, and I am so glad she volunteered for it!!!

The movers arrived at 9:00 and were finished by 1:30, I was amazed! Especially since it took twelve hours to load the truck to move!

So that was my move in day, after that, things were at a steady pace, unpacking, putting away, trying to find items….you know the routine. The house is now starting to feel like a home. I have some of the things on the walls. I always feel better when I get things on the walls! All of the new furniture we ordered has arrived but my night stands, headboard and footboard. They will be in in two weeks or earlier. Things are looking the way I want them to look, so I’m a happy gal, though a sore one! We’ve made good use of the hot tub already, boy it’s nice to jump in there after working all day for a good soak! I’m in love!

Still quite a lot of work to be done, but nothing like it was!! I’ll get pictures when I get more of the decorating done and some of the gorgeous sunsets we get out here! I’ve been blown away by our view! I absolutely love it here!

Wow! I can’t believe it’s the end of the week already! What a week we’ve had, first off, we are homeowners once again! Woo Hoo!! We closed on the house on Tuesday. It’s so nice to be able to say it’s ours now! We’ve already met one of our neighbors, a couple expecting their first baby! So I’ll have a new baby to play with come Spring! I also met a resident at the house that I wasn’t so thrilled about! A snake! Big D and the kids called me out to the front of the house to see the amazing view of the sunset we have, but what they really wanted was to see my reaction of the 12 inch snake that was sitting by the front step! Well, they got the reaction they expected!! Seeing that I have a major snake phobia, you can imagine how fast my feet took me from that front step to back in the house! I made record time! I can handle the frogs that are hopping around, and we have some big frogs, but I see a snake, forget it!

We met with a painter to come in and paint my dining room and Miss Priss’s room this Saturday. He did some painting for my step-brother’s new house and did some really nice faux finishes that I loved. Our dining room has picture frame panels below the chair rail that he’s going to do a faux finish in the panels with a glaze. It’s going to look fabulous! I’ll take pictures when it’s done! Miss Priss’s room has alot of white crown molding, her room is going to be a silver sword color, to coordinate with her black and red theme room. It will look wonderful also! I’m so excited to see how it will look because her room right now, is bright yellow with painted baby jungle animals on the walls….not so good for a 19 year old!

Deliveries of our purchases will start being made on Monday!! It’s so exciting! Tuesday is the big day, the movers will arrive with our belongings! I can’t wait to see our stuff in the house. I’m very excited, but also not looking forward to unpacking all those dang boxes! I’m really looking forward to decorating though, every time we are at the house I am thinking about what I can do and how I can do it! I told D today my mind seems to be going 100 mph right now and if I don’t get an outlet soon I’m going to have a blowout! So this weekend I’m going to “do” the kitchen cabinets, line the drawers and cabinets, etc. I have found that The Container Store has some wonderful things to help you get organized!

So that’s alittle bit of what’s going on in my little garden! As you see the next week is going to be “CRAZY!” Keep me in your thoughts, I can use it right now…sleep is not easy, miss my bed something fierce and the bed here…horrible!

It’s almost here!!! We close on our new house Tuesday!!! We will do our walk through in the morning, then the closing is in the afternoon. I’m so excited to see the house again. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been in it. We drove by the other day so Miss Priss could see the pool, (the owners have moved out already and moved out of state). We can’t wait to make use of that pool and spa! This week will be a busy week! We have scheduled things to be done for the house before we have our belongings delivered on the 18th. So, I will be a busy bee this week! Thankfully I have Bubba and Miss Priss with me to help!

I’m doing some retail therapy also this week, since we have bought the big stuff for the house, I’m now looking for the “fun” stuff, the decorator things I want! As you know, I do love to shop!!

Y’all will have to forgive me if I don’t visit much in the next week or two, as you know if you have ever moved, it’s crazy busy! I will try to pop in and out when I can and know if I don’t comment back I appreciate you stopping in and leaving a word here! Matter of fact, I love it! I’ll be back to normal (or as normal as I get ) soon!!

We are here!! Well, actually we’ve been here since Friday night…but we have been so tired that we haven’t done much of anything! Once we arrived, we got the few things we brought with us into the apartment and we collapsed! Speaking of the apartment, what a nice surprise when we got here! Not only was it fully furnished, which we knew, but it’s HUGE! Big D and I realized that it’s the same size of our first house! So it’s not going to be so bad for the next few weeks. Though I do really miss my bed!!

D and I did some furniture shopping Sunday. I have picked out the table, chairs, bar stools and bakers rack for the kitchen, bedroom furniture for our room, plus new big screen TV and surround system. I still have window blinds to pick out, draperies, and other misc. things….this is so much fun!!! Great way to pass the time away, wouldn’t you say?

It hasn’t quite sunk in yet that we are back in Texas….right now it feels like a vacation. Guess till we are in our new home things will be that way. I can’t wait to get in the house and get a normal schedule back!

Well that’s about it from this end….I’m taking it easy, just resting and trying to feel better. I woke up yesterday feeling horrible and still don’t feel much better today, so I’m taking it easy and letting my body recoup.

Oh yeah, I’m officially a Texas YellowRose again! Yee Haw!

Wednesday the movers arrived at 8:30 bright eyed and bushytailed….at least someone was, I was exhausted. But things got moving pretty fast and it looked like they would be done around 4 or 5 o’clock! Not bad for all of our “stuff!” Well….things didn’t go as planned. It rained, off and on, so it delayed things….and apparently we had acquired quite alot of “stuff” while in Georgia because they just kept bringing more and more “stuff” out! I thought it would never end!

During this time, the driver for the transport company who is transporting two of our four vehicles called and informed us that he had been delayed in Oklahoma City and wouldn’t be to our house till the following day! Well, that wouldn’t do since we would be gone! So after calling our coordinator and few more phone calls, they arranged for the cars to be picked up a few hours later. That really was the only major snag we had other than the rain.

Four o’clock passed and there was still alot of house left to be loaded…so we changed our plans about leaving and driving for a few hours that night, by then we were dog tired! It was 8:30 when the 55 foot semi moving truck was fully loaded (and I mean Packed FULL! ) pulled off with all our belongings. We had been going since six o’clock in the morning and the only thing I wanted was a shower and a bed!

We drove to the other side of Atlanta, all four of us starving, sweaty, smelly and tired. We didn’t look to great at this point and didn’t care to much what anyone thought, so we decided that Waffle House was the place to go. I had never eaten at a Waffle House before, though everyone else in my family had at one time or another. I don’t know if it was because I was so exhausted and beyond starving, but it was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had!! There were some “regulars” in this particular one we stopped at, and they were getting quite a kick out of listening to the Waffle House Newbie! It was fun and it was good!!

We did get a good nights sleep. All of us crashed as soon as our heads hit the pillow! But we felt better this morning…amazing what sleep will do!

After driving to Shreveport, we decided it would be fun to go to one of the casinos for a few hours to just have some fun, and it was! We went to the Horseshoe Casino, and Big D won some money on a slot machine…that made him happy. Me too, because what’s his is mine!

We will be in Texas in the morning, stopping to see D’s parents for a few hours and then on to Fort Worth. It’s been an adventure. My next post will be when I’m officially a Texan again!

I was amazed at how fast the lovely ladies who packed everything up managed to get things done! They were amazing! We have a large house, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 car garage with a storage building, that’s 3000 sq. feet. They finished it in a total of seven hours!!! And sweet….they were so sweet! Though one of the ladies was very afraid of Rocky…she called her a tiger! I was kind and put my “tiger” in her crate. If you ever are in need of a moving company, let me recommend Graebel Van Lines, this is the second time we have used them and they have been wonderful both times!!

Last night we did something really fun, Big D had arranged for the kids and I to have a private a tour of where he worked here in Georgia, where the F-22 is assembled. It was amazing to see those awesome flying machines up close! We toured the Flight Line where we saw F-22′s, F-16′s, C130′s and C5′s, all amazing flying machines. It was also really nice to see where D had worked, including his office which is in a secure area and normally we would have never been able to see. Not only do I have a deeper appreciate of my husbands work, but for all those who build these awesome fighters! It was a very cool experience for me and the kids, and I think Big D was quite proud to show us what he does to provide for us.

Tomorrow is the big day! The movers will arrive at 8:30 in the morning! I can’t believe it’s really here! I will try to keep you up to date as things progress and when I have a connection! Gotta love that WiFi!

Texas here we come!!

The packers are here right now! I cannot believe it! I am a little overwhelmed this morning, I think it is from the lack of sleep, but I feel that I am forgetting something important!! Well, I have done all I can do, right? Someone reassure me, ok!

Apparently, I am not the only one feeling a little stressed, Rocky has gone into hiding! I finally found her under my bed, and she refuses to come out. While they are not packing our room yet I am leaving her alone…poor thing knows something is up! She will have to go into her crate soon enough as it is.

Big D is happy to be home and I am one happy gal to see my man! He loved his birthday presents, we bought him three fancy golf clubs he had his eye on! He was surprised! The man is obsessed with golf!

Well, I rather feel a little guilty, like I should be doing something more than sitting at the computer while three people are packing up our belongings…NAH….I don’t feel that guilty! This is definitely the way to move. We are blessed, and we certainly know how lucky we are.

We are going to pack our computer ourselves, so I will have access until the end! Hey, what can I say, I’m addicted! Actually, we prefer to take it with us, that way we can have it at our temporary lodging, plus Miss Priss won’t have to share her laptop with me then!

So that’s what’s going on in the garden today….the countdown to Texas is closing in!! Woo Hoo!!

This is our new house in Texas!! When I boarded the plane last night to come back to Atlanta, Big D called me and said they accepted our offer, we have the house! Woo Hoo!!

Of course, we made our offer, they countered, we then countered their offer and then they accepted….it’s all a game. I’m just glad the game is over! We close on the 11th, and we leave Atlanta on the 29th of this month. The packers will be here on the 27th and 28th, packing everything we own. I thank God I don’t have to do it! Then on the 29th they will load it up on the moving truck and it’s bye-bye Atlanta! We will be staying in a 3 bedroom corporate furnished apartment for the period before we close on our new home, while our stuff will go in storage. It feels a little like deja’vu, seeing we did this just over two and a half years ago!

We are excited about our new home! I love the house, the pool and spa are fabulous! I cannot wait to make use of those!

We are excited and I just can’t wait to decorate! My mind is already going 100 miles per hour with ideas! For me, that is the fun part of moving. I’ve already been looking at furniture for the kitchen, so as you see, I don’t waste time!

This week is going to be crazy! Miss Priss (she is finally home!) and I will be going through drawers and closets so we don’t move anything we don’t want to move. I also have to close accounts, end subscriptions and all those other wonderful things one has to do when they move! Plus I have a deep freeze full of food…guess one of my neighbors will be getting lucky with a bounty of frozen food! Wow, I’m tired already! But it’s exciting! It was nice to be back in Texas, I have had some mixed feeling about going back. But I enjoyed my time there this last week and I think going back is going to be good. Besides, it’s going to be great for Big D’s career, and in the grand scheme of things, financial security in numero uno!
