Haven’t done a movie review in awhile, so here’s one…..if you haven’t seen “Memoirs of a Geisha” see it! I read the book, which was absolutely excellent and I hated it when I finished the book. So much so that I even dreamt about the characters that night….I really loved the book that much.
So I was really looking forward to watching this movie. It was very good, but as what happens with most movies adapted from novels, it didn’t hold a candle to the book. They have to leave so much out of the movie that was in the book that I actually felt cheated. If I hadn’t read the book first, it wouldn’t have made such a difference, but I had so it did. Big D enjoyed it, though there were times I had to explain the storyline, because it wasn’t quite clear. Goes back to feeling that they left out too much from the book.
If you haven’t seen the movie, watch it. It’s really a beautiful piece of work. If you haven’t read the book, I recommend you do so also. It is something you won’t be able to put down.
