Yep, I’m still alive….if you were wondering, that is. Thought I’d share a bit of our Christmas tree with you. Keep an eye out, and I’ll share more!

Which is your favorite?

In other news, it’s so wonderful to be home!!! My bed beats that hospital bed 100%! Really missing not having our big 4th of July party this year, but we’ll make up for it next year with one that will go down in the history books!!

Happy 4th Everyone, may it be a safe one for you and yours. Thank you to all those who have given us our freedom!

Wishing all the mom’s out there a very happy day! I am very blessed to have a wonderful mom, who is not only beautiful, amazing and fun but she has been the one who taught me how to be a good mother to my son and daughter. Thank you mom, you are my idol! I love you!

In our family we have mother’s that all are examples of amazing women, my grandmother (married 65 years this week!), my mom, my aunts, my sister, my cousins…we are so lucky to have these strong women in our lives.

Today let the women in your life know how much you appreciate them, whether mothers or not, women are amazing and strong, it’s nice to let them know how much you think about them!

However you spend the day, I hope you have a great one!

2008 has been a very good year for our family and filled with many milestones.  It was a year that will go down in our memories as a special year for many reasons. We celebrated Big D getting his Master’s, our 25th anniversary, our future DIL graduated with her BA,  the planning of the wedding of our son, and our daughter finally found a job she loves, just to name a few of the many highlights.  I am looking forward to what the new year will bring.

1. Real tree or artificial?
Artificial, all that sneezing and watering eyes keep us from having a real one, though I do love the smell.

2. When do you put up the tree?
Usually about two to three weeks before Christmas. Going to do it this weekend!

3. When do you take the tree down?
New Years weekend, by then I am so ready to get my house back in order!

4. Favorite gift received as a child?
Wow, I had some great gifts as a child so that’s hard. My parents were so good at making sure we got what we wanted. One that comes to mind was when I got the drum set I really wanted, much to my mother’s dismay!! Dad was behind that one.

5. Do you have a nativity scene?
I have quite a few, even a small one from Jerusalem made from olive wood that I love.

6. Hardest person to buy for?
My husband, he has everything and won’t tell me what he wants!

7. Easiest person to buy for?
My daughter, she and I have very similar taste, jewelry is always a sure hit!

8. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? ???
Can’t say this is the worst, but it wasn’t something I would have bought for myself! Someone (I will withhold the givers name by means that it may come back and bite me in the rear) bought me a “custom” sweat suit with appliqued flowers on the front of the shirt and pants leg. Not really my style.

9. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Most favorite is “It’s A Wonderful Life,” we watch it every Christmas Eve without fail! But I love Christmas movies, so you have to add, “Elf,” “The Santa Clause 1 & 2,” “Miracle on 34th Street” the original one…just to name a few!

10. Favorite Christmas song?
Another hard one that I can’t just narrow down! “O Holy Night” would be #1, “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “Little Drummer Boy,” shoot, the list could go on and on….

11. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
I just tried and failed…I’m so ashamed!  

12. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning?
Christmas morning, thank heaven not as early as it use to be!!

13. What I love most about Christmas?
The meaning of Christmas and time spent with my family.
