Thursday Thirteen #111 – Favorite Reads

This week I’m listing 13 of my favorite books from my GoodReads list…if you haven’t heard of GoodReadsclick here  and check it out!! It’s a great place for us bookworms! )

  1. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon – Probably my all time favorite books. It’s number one in a series of BIG (896 pages) books. Once you start, you are hooked! )
  2. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – First in the Twilight saga. I kept hearing all the hoopla about these books, I finally bought them and I understood what all the hoopla was about! Loved them all!! )
  3. Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory McGuire – Excellent book! If you love Wizard of Oz, you’ll love this adult version of the life of the Wicked Witch Elphaba. The Broadway musical is based on this book. luv
  4. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden  – I enjoyed this book so much better than the movie. The book captures the life of Sayuri so much more in depth. Beautiful book.
  5. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis – The collection…magical!
  6. The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown – I really enjoyed the book, read it when it was all the rage. I liked the movie also.
  7. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling – First in the series, another one that I kept hearing so much hype about. I thought it was ‘just a kids book.’ I was so wrong. Loved the whole series! Just re-read Deathly Hallows this week. )
  8. Morrigan’s Cross by Nora Roberts – First in a trilogy, this is probably one of my favorites of any Nora Roberts series. It wasn’t all fluff, but still had romance along with vampires, time travel, gods and magic.
  9. Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning – Another series (see a pattern? ) ) this one features sexy Highlanders, time travel, some magic, and well….check them out, they are worth it! )
  10. The Book of Ralph by John McNally – I was excited to read this book as I went to school with the author John McNally. He uses such wonderful visuals with his writing that I couldn’t put this book down.  Definitely a book not to be missed!
  11. Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade by Diana Gabaldon – Gabaldon of the Outlander saga brings back one of her most compelling characters: Lord John Grey! He’s such a bad boy!
  12. Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts – Another first in a trilogy, another series about Ireland….it’s good one for that warm fuzzy feeling.
  13. Angelas Ashes by Frank McCourt - “Worse than the ordinary miserable childhood is the miserable Irish childhood,” writes Frank McCourt in Angela’s Ashes. Wonderful writing, a book that should be on every one’s to read list.

I loved Memoirs of a Geisha, too, and of course Harry Potter & the Twilight series. Wicked SOUNDED like something I’d love, but I couldn’t get through it, not sure why. Great list!
