Thursday Thirteen #105 - It’s Random!

  1. It’s been HOT here, 100° and over days…so hot that when you are outside it’s like when you open the oven door. I hate that kind of hot. We haven’t even gone swimming, don’t want to get out of the A/C! )
  2. My niece is staying with us this week. She’s a hoot! If there is another “Jonas Brother’s” fan that’s bigger than her, I’d have to meet them to believe it! roll
  3. Speaking of, they are moving to this area, last Sunday her and my sister were in Wallyworld and she recognized their mom and little brother from the back of their heads!! shock Long story short, a very kind cashier took her up to the mom and asked if she could have her picture made with her. Their mom was very nice and my niece has been on cloud 9 since. That group moving to this area is HUGE news and I mean it’s on the nightly news daily! roll
  4. WEDDING NEWS: Brandon and Brit have finally booked a location for the wedding and reception!! party It’s taken a lot of looking and brainstorming, but they finally found a beautiful golf course that meets all the requirements! It’s exciting to knock that off the check list!
  5. South Texas is getting pounded by Hurricane (now Tropical Storm) Dolly. If you have never been in a hurricane, you are lucky! My introduction to Texas in ‘83 was Hurricane Alicia in South Texas. It was fierce, scary, and I don’t want to ever experience that again! Tornadoes ripping just feet away from the house….flooding….no electricity…no water for days…it was a nightmare! My heart goes out to everyone in South Texas right now!
  6. I had a huge moment this week, maybe it won’t seem huge to some, but for me it was HUGE! I killed a snake! Yes, I KILLED A SNAKE! Now you have to understand, I have had a snake phobia all my life, even to the point that I couldn’t even watch them on TV. This snake which I even took photos of to prove that one was in the pool wasn’t huge, but big enough for me to break out in a sweat and repeat “ohmigosh” over and over again in a high pitch voice! embarrassed  I managed to get it out with a big hoe, and proceeded to go all Jason (my weak Friday the 13th reference) on it! It was bird food when I was finished with it! mrgreen

  7. I got a new camera lens this week!! I am so excited and haven’t quit playing with it! It’s a Canon telephoto 75-300 mm and I’m loving it! My next lens will be a macro lens! Photography is so addicting and I am addicted!
  8. Here are some of the photos I’ve taken with my new lens (I’m tired and outta of random things to post ) ) so enjoy!
  9. Open Sunflower Bokeh in Flickr for biggie size!

Good random post, love this kind! It’s hot here too. Monday and Tuesday were 100 here also and broke a record one day. We’ve had a little respite (today, ONLY 95) and by the weekend, it’s supposed to be 101 again. Just in time for football training camp that is held here. I nearly get heat stroke when we go to the practices. )

I too have snake-a-phobia and could barely look at your snake photo. I would never have tried to kill it myself in a million years. Was it poisonous?

Yeah for the new lens! I got a 75-300 for Christmas last year and love it. I want to get a macro soon too, so definitely post what you get and how you like it. I should be taking more photos and learning more… I’m still shooting on auto all.the.time!

Have a great day!
