It’s been one very exciting weekend here at the Garden! My son became engaged this weekend to the most wonderful girl. I can honestly say my son has excellent taste! Not only in women, but in rings!! But let me start from the beginning….
Last week I was sitting at my desk when he came in and told me to close my eyes, I did, and when I opened them there sat the most gorgeous diamond ring in front of me! I knew immediately what it was and proceeded to scream, clap, tears, and hug my smiling boy. Of course after much talking and hearing details of his shopping for rings I congratulated him on his excellent taste in jewelry. He must have inherited that from me.
I was told at this point under no circumstances was I to tell anyone that he bought a ring and that he intended to propose on Sunday. That meant I had to kept this wonderful secret all week!!!!!! Do you know how hard that is??? For Me???
I managed, though poor D probably was very tired of hearing about it.
So Sunday get’s here, I’m as nervous as Brandon is…he’s my boy, I’m hoping that everything goes as he has planned. And plan is what he did!! He first planned for them to go to the zoo, (remember it’s Texas folks, it was warm here) because the zoo is where they went on their first date. Then they came back to our house to change into something dressy to go to the Mercury Chop House (same place D took me for our anniversary), when Brandon made his reservations, he told them it was for a special occasion, so they told him they would put them in the VIP area which is a curtained table with a view, very romantic! After a very lovely dinner in beautiful downtown Fort Worth, which by the way looks gorgeous this time of year, they walked about a block to the Christmas tree on the Square, where my son, got down on one knee and asked the girl he loves to marry him. She was surprised and in awe of the ring and said yes right away!
After some time together they went to her parents house and told her parents who were very happy for them also.

We are so happy for our son and his fiancé. We love her and are so excited that she is going to be a part of our family.
