Friday night we went to a high school football game. My nephew and step-niece’s school was playing their homecoming game. My nephew is a wide receiver and played a very good game, and it was the first time for me to see him play a high school game. My step-niece is on the color guard and it was nice to see her perform also for the first time.
Being in the stands brought back memories for me sitting on those hard bleachers of when my son played football. Some of those memories aren’t so good. He was injured several times and I remember being in the stands seeing him go down and not get up. He had some serious injuries back then and I know if you were to ask him even today, he’d say it was all worth it.
That my friends, is football in Texas!
Saturday night Big D and I had a date night and it was fantastic!! We went to Bass Hall in Fort Worth to see the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. It was a night of music by John Williams. Now you may not recognize that name, but if you love music (and movies) you should!! He is responsible for great pieces like the theme from “Jaws”, “ET”, and “Star Wars” to name just a few. The first half of the evening was a mixture of different movies including “Harry Potter” and a piece from “Shindler’s List” that left me with goose bumps. The second half were pieces from all the Star Wars movies! After the intermission, we kept hearing giggles from the back, (we were seated in the fourth row center Orchestra) so we turned around and walking down the aisle was, Darth Vader, a group of Storm Troopers and Princess Leia! The laughs continued when Darth Vader went up on stage and conducted the first piece! From the wings, Conductor, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, emerged and made it known to Darth Vader it was his show, leave the stage and he proceeded to conduct the rest of the show. A little humor mixed in with wonderful music, made for a wonderful night!

This is one of the Beautiful Angels adorning the front of Bass Hall!
After we left the Hall, we headed to PF Changs for a late dinner. It was so nice to be out with my handsome husband just enjoying each other.
Today we are just taking it easy…I like lazy day Sunday’s…how about you?
