I’m telling you, sometimes you just forget where you are! That’s what I’m like right now…I’m so tired! Saturday we had gotten word that Big D’s dad was not doing well, matter of fact he was doing really bad, they found out that he had blood clots in his lungs, this just days after he underwent triple bypass surgery. We gathered our things and hit the road at 4:00 in the morning Sunday and drove straight through to East Texas. We arrived at 4 in the afternoon…that’s a looooong drive folks! But we were pleased to see that my FIL seemed to be doing better than he had been, and he was very pleased to see all of us. So it was worth it. We even got a few laughs out of him, though they were weak, it was great to see and hear them! He’s on some heavy duty drugs, so he does talk off the wall at times. Miss Priss and I had some fun with that..(well, what do you expect?) she tried to convince him that he promised her his truck. He didn’t quite fall for that. He at one time thought he was at a Sonic Drive-In (hamburger joint) so I played around with him on that…boy, have I got blackmail material on him for years!!
I was very surprised when I was sitting there talking to D’s aunt telling her when my dad had his triple bypass surgery and how we had to remind him to “hug his pillow” all the time when in walks my dad and step mom!! I looked at her and said “speaking of the devil!!”
They drove up from Fort Worth to check on my FIL and to see us. It was rather amusing to see my dad and FIL comparing their chest wounds. It was certainly nice to see them, even if it was for a very short time.
Not sure how long we will be here. Playing it by ear, but if things are going well we will probably leave for home Wednesday, but this time we will be taking our time driving!!
So keep my FIL in your thoughts and prayers, and I’ll be checking in when I can!!

I’m so glad that things are looking up. I’m sorry to hear that you had to “fly low” and make the trip. It’s a looong drive. Glad we don’t have to make it that often anymore. You’ll have to let me know when you’re out here longer!

It’s a relief to hear that your FIL is improving- that is some scary stuff, I know. Isn’t it just like men, to compare their scars- I guess it is a kind of “badge of honor”, especially since they survived.
Blessing & prayers going your way.

Hope you FIL keeps getting better and better….
THAT was a marathon drive, my dear. No wonder you are tired, and there is the emotional part to it, too….Hope you can get a bit of rest before you get back on ‘the road’. Prayers are forthcoming for your FIL!
