Ok, my curiosity got the best of me…and I Googled the “Castle House!” Here’s what I found out and it’s quite interesting!
It was built by Rudy and Ruth McLaughlin approximately 25 years ago, it has 2 bedrooms, and is 1700 square feet. It is made of marble from Ball Ground, Georgia and granite from Stone Mountain, Georgia. He was a truck driver and he told his wife that one day he was going to build her a castle – this is the result. That is kinda sweet actually.

View thanks to Google Earth, see the moat around the castle!
There is a moat that is actually a swimming pool, as you see the pool is in the back. I’m thinking they have their own “lazy river!” A pool equipment building mimicking the “castle” has been built behind the castle. It has what looks like two figurines on top of that building – of course with a diving board for the pool. There are two drawbridges that are believed to act as garage doors. There are gnome figurines on the column tops at the driveway entrances as well as on the peak in front of the castle.
Interesting, huh?

Isn’t that the most bizarre thing you have ever seen. It just seems so out of place. You would think if you were going to build a castle you would build further from the road on a larger lot!
But it is sweet that he built it for his wife!

When I was a newsapaper reporter in the Roswell/Alpharetta area, I determined to get to the bottom of the castle house mystery but was told the owners did not like any undue attention (uh,,,,,,,you’re living in a castle!). I never cracked the case so thanks for the info!
