What a wonderful time we had up in the mountains with our friends this weekend! I have to say Georgia is gawgeous dahling!! We arrived on Friday evening around 7:30, to the town and met up with our friends and had dinner at Ruby Tuesdays…no cooking that night! Then a quick stop to Wally World to pick up provisions for a big breakfast was in order, plus a few goodies for our late night snacks. Then we headed out to the “cabin!” Now let me explain, this is not a rustic, deep in the woods log cabin where we were roughing it. This was a beautiful two story cabin with a basement! It has everything this Diva would ever need (including a tanning bed!) for a very enjoyable weekend! The second story was an open loft, with two large bedrooms and a bathroom, that was our domain for the weekend and the main floor was so comfortable with it’s inviting fireplace in the living area, a master bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, a dining room with a big deck looking out over the mountain.

Not exactly roughing it, was I? LOL
I loved standing on the upper deck (there was a much larger deck on the lower level) at night and listening to the sounds of the woods! It was fun and a little scary but I knew I was safe as high as I was!
Now the one thing that did scare me a little, BEARS! Yes, my dear friend warned me that bears are in that area and I should “smell” the air before I walk out at night. Let’s just say I didn’t go out at night unless I absolutely had to, and then I sent Big Daddy out first!!! LOL Thankfully we didn’t see any bears, but we did smell them that first night, so they were in the area.
We stayed up really late playing cards and a really fun marble/card game, I won every game!! I was on a streak! I asked if anyone wanted to play poker, I had no takers, wonder why?
Saturday morning we got up and had a big breakfast, something of a treat for Big D, we just don’t do big breakfasts! The weather was a little overcast and was threatening rain so we wanted to get out before it did, so we all got ready and hit the road!
The first place we went was just down the road from their cabin, this is a fish trap that the Indians built so they could catch fish as they went down the river.

Pretty cool way to catch fish, huh?
We then headed to the town square which is filled with antique stores. My mission was to find Christmas decorations, and gifts. We walked around looking for awhile and then the rain came. We did make it to this wonderful little Christmas store that was in an old Victorian house! I purchased some great items in there!! But by then the rain was coming down in sheets and the wind was blowing so hard. Our host borrowed an umbrella from the store owner and ran to get our car to pick us up so we wouldn’t get drenched and we decided to head over to the next town where more shopping could take place. But before we did, we made a quick stop at Dollar General and purchased umbrellas!!!
This town, Blue Ridge, was so neat, lots of shops lined the main street. Our hostess had bought some coffee that we had been drinking that weekend that was wonderful from a little shop in this town so I was determined to get me some! The rain had stopped and we were able to enjoy our time in Blue Ridge.
Not only did I get my coffee (Fiddlesticks and White Chocolate) but I walked into a really neat shop and fell in love with this….

This picture just doesn’t do it justice! It’s gorgeous!
It’s a beautiful piece with crosses that are decorated with Swarovski Crystals. One of the crosses even has my birthstone (Topaz). I collect crosses. So when I saw this I fell in love with it. Well, my sweet hubby bought it for me as an early birthday present (my birthday is the 17th)!! Isn’t he a keeper!! I was tickled pink after that!
Of course, there was something else in that store I felt I needed……

A Crown and Scepter, a Diva needs these, you know!
We finished up our trip to Blue Ridge with dinner at a delicious restaurant right on the river. We walked to the river before we were seated for a few pictures…

The misty weather made it quite beautiful!

Awww, aren’t we cute?
After our dinner, which was very good, we headed back to the cabin and sat by the fire for a while before Big D and I headed back to the land of reality. We had a blast and can’t wait to do it again!

So that’s how my weekend went. How was yours?
