I’m home….ahh…..see that pretty rose up there? I took that picture while at Big D’s grandmother’s, who lives’ out in the country. She has some beautiful roses in her yard and I went to town snapping pictures. She kept telling me to “cut you off some blooms,” she couldn’t understand that all I wanted to do was photograph them.
They were too pretty to cut!
They were too pretty to cut!
It was good to see all of Big D’s family…his uncle who passed away was only 59, way too young to leave us, but he was ready and we knew it was his time. Because he was born in the same place and died in the same place, he was well liked by everyone, & the service was very well attended. For a small town, there was over 250 in attendance and there were so many beautiful flowers. It just showed what an amazing guy he was!
One thing I love about the South and small Texas towns, is the respect they show. As the funeral processional went through town, (the cemetery he was buried at was 15 miles out of town, so it took us over 30 minutes to get there), every car on the road pulled over to pay their respects. When we headed out of the town, there was a little old man on a tractor, in his overalls and ball cap, but he stopped his tractor, removed his cap and bowed his head. Now that my friends, is what I call respect.
Ok, now on to happier things…
I was able to visit with my grandparent’s while I was in town! It was so great to see them! And the big news with them is they have gotten a computer! I’m so excited for them. I was able to spend some time showing them a few things and how to get to my blog, so they could keep up with what’s going on with me and my crew! So this is for them…. “Hi grandpa and grandma! Love you!!”
We spent Sunday with my dad and step mom, and all the family. We had a great time eating and eating some more….I think that’s all we did all day! My dad is doing and looking great. He’s lost weight and feeling like a new man!
Though it was a sad occasion to have to go back to Texas, it was good to be able to see all of our family. I am tired and boy was I glad to get back on the plane yesterday and know I was headed home to my kids.
Thanks again to all of you for the sweet comments and for checking up on me. I’m off now to catch up with you all!

Glad you are back. Funerals are sad times but there is also the enjoyment of seeing family that we haven’t seen in a while. You experience both ends of the emotional spectrum!
