Did I Ever Tell You About The Birth Of Our Son?

A few weeks ago my Monday Memory was about the birth of our daughter, so let me tell you about the birth of our first born!

When I found out I was pregnant I was working in a office for Oil Field Maintence. I ran the office for all these men….they knew why I had a doctors appointment and they all stood around my desk like expecting daddies when I returned. It was rather enduring, but I couldn’t tell them anything before telling Big D! It was cute to see the smiles on these weathered faces as they already knew.

Fast forward nine months, and it’s four o’clock in the morning and Big D’s alarm clock goes off at the same time so does my water break! Talk about timing! See, if Big D had left for work it would have taken him at least four hours before returning home (before we had a cell phopne!), he traveled an hour and a half one way to work!

Seeing this was my first baby I was nervous, wanting to get to the hospital and get everything under control. Big D, on the other hand was calm as can be, got up took a shower, pressed his pants and shirt, made sure we had everything, double checked things, ran back in to get a towel because he didn’t want me to mess up the car seat…(I was not very patient at this point), and finally he decided HE was ready. By now I was having mild contractions, but very, very mild ones.

Now we were living in a sleepy town where no one was out at this time of morning, but Big D decided that it was necessary to speed through town and run all the red lights, just because he could. Please remember, we were young. LOL

After arriving to the Labor and Delivery of the small town hospital, they set me up in my huge room. It had two beds, but I was by myself in there. It was my doctors day off. But I soon learned that I had the best doctor in town.

During labor I had Toxemia, my blood pressure sky rocketed. When my dr came in he was not happy with how things were going so he stayed and when I mean stay, I mean he did not leave my room for 12 and a half hours during my labor. He napped on the extra bed, he would not let the nurses check me, he did that himself, he was concerned about me and the baby to the point that the only time he left the room was to get coffee and to use the restroom. To say that this doctor holds a special place in our hearts is putting it mildly!

After 12 and a half hours, and after telling my husband that things were not looking good if we went any longer. I found out later that he told him that he was afraid if they waited longer we would lose the baby and possibly me too. They rushed us in the delivery room, used forceps (think great big salad tongs!) and I mean PULLED one beautiful, screaming baby out!

The thing about this delivery is I never really felt anything….I had been given an epidural when I was 1 centimeter, because of the Toxemia. So before the real contractions started I was numb! When I had Miss Priss I experienced what contractions were, my epidural didn’t take!
That is how my handsome, loving, witty remarkable son came into this world! My life has never been the same since!
                          Bubba at 3 months old….already a heartbreaker!

                            Bubba today, isn’t he handsome?!

I can’t believe your water broke when the alarm clock went off. God is awesome!

What an amazing doctor to stay in your room for 12.5 hours. Amazing! That wouldn’t happen today. Sadly.

He is a very handsome young man!

My MM is up… sorry it was late!
