It’s
Flashback Friday and the topic is how you broke the news that there was a baby on the way!
Since my topic for
Monday Memories was on the birth of our daughter, let me tell you how we found out we were expecting!
I was scheduled for a tubal ligation surgery on a Thursday. I had to do something, I was suffering form ovarian cysts and endometriosis and my doctor said the chances of my ever getting pregnant again were extremely slim. I was in pain all of the time and having a toddler already it wasn’t cutting it. So we resolved to the fact that we were only going to have one child.
On Sunday we had gone to church as usual, and I asked for prayer. I was nervous about the surgery and just wanted everything to go ok.
When I woke up on Monday I wasn’t feeling right….just something didn’t feel right, like not right as when I was pregnant. Now mind you, the doctors office had already taken a pregnancy test which came back negative the previous week, when they did all the pre op tests.
I called the doctors office and asked to come in and take another pregnancy test, just to reassure myself. I went in, took the test and it was the longest wait in my life! The nurse, came out with a stunned look on her face and said, “Honey, you
are pregnant!” I didn’t believe her so I made her show me the test! And sure enough that baby was positive!
I was taken to a room and then my doctor came in just shaking his head, he was in disbelief, he couldn’t believe it either! He was as excited as I was….he knew I wanted another child so as I cried with joy, he also did! To say the least, he was one special doctor.
Of course the surgery was canceled. They told me if I hadn’t come in and had the test, and we had gone in and started the surgery, I would have lost the baby. It was a God thing. No Doubt!
The most absolute joy was when I was able to look my hubby in the eyes and tell him he was going to be a daddy again! We never thought that would happen and there we were rejoicing at the news! Telling Bubba was just as much fun! He learned quickly that he was going to be a big brother! And he took that role seriously! He still does. Telling our families was a blast…no one could believe it! And that is how the announcement of Miss Priss came to be!
