Karin has brought back Flashback Friday!! This week it’s all about pets…so I’m going to tell you about my little lovely, Rocky.
Rocky is my nine year old tabby, she is spoiled and thinks she is the queen of the palace. Several years ago, Rocky became curious of the clothes dryer…see it had overheated so we had opened the door to let it cool. Rocky liked the warmth of the dryer so she hopped in, unknowing to any of us. Bubba closed the door as he passed through the laundry room and started the dryer, within a few minutes I had heard a “thump…thump…thump” I knew immediately what it was. Bubba ran to the dryer and grabbed Rocky out of the dryer, she wasn’t looking so good, barely breathing. I knew I needed to cool her off so I grabbed a towel and soaked it in cold water and wrapped her in it. We took off to the vets office which was closed, but thankfully he happened to be there….though he later told me he thought I was going to break his door down by pounding on it! He took Rocky and started her on an IV and put ice packs around her, her core temperature was 106, which he told me they don’t usually make it with that high of a temperature. But he didn’t give up on her. We left her in his hands and I went home crying. We got a call the next day that Rocky made it through the night, and it looked like she would make a full recovery. She burned the skin off her pads, and her nose. Her eyes were scratched, and she cut her tongue. But with some tender loving care she made a full recovery. To say the least, Rocky never goes near the dryer anymore, and I freak out if I hear a thumping in there…I immediately yell, “Where’s Rocky?”

Yikes! We have adorable photo’s of our cats sleeping in the dryer…I never thought of this possibility though! How scary…I’ll sure be more careful of my kitties now.

Oh my gosh that poor little thing ! I can’t imagine how bad you must have felt opening the dryer and finding her. I am glad the story had a happy ending
Have a great weekend, we are roasting here ( rubbing it in lol)

This happened to some friends of mine, who were not so lucky. What a great ending to a sad story! Michele sent me.

This is the main reason why I keep my washer and dryer in the basement despite the fact that I could keep it in the hookups we have in the bathroom. The same bathroom with the litterbox and where the cat’s bowls are. It didn’t seem safe to me.
Glad Rocky is OK. What a terrible trauma for the poor guy.

Here from Michele,
Glad to hear Rocky did ok. I had an old dog that had a heat stroke and it is soooo frightening when they can’t breath and their tongue turns blue.

Holy crap…I had to come read this. Makes me glad Max is WAY too big to get in there unnoticed…

This is a terrible and a wonderfulstory…I mean, the outcome is wonderful except for all that BURNING….but the beginning is truly horrific.
I’m not sure I would ever forgive myself if that had happened and I had been responsible for 1) Closing my kitty in the Dryer, and 2) Starting it!!!
Help Me!
So, I’m here today from Michele, my dear Yellowrose…
