| Thirteen Random Things about YellowRose
(I’m posting early, I like to get things done ahead of time….actually, I am just passing the time away!) 1. I went for an eye exam on Wednesday. I found out that the prescription for my glasses was twice the strength it should have been. No wonder I had a headache all day! 2. Was it a mistake that my prescription was so wrong? No, actually what has happened, and it isn’t proven, but they do believe it is true, the medication I take daily as a preventative for complicated migraines has actually improved my vision. Isn’t that cool?! 3. So not only did I get my new extended wear contacts…these are really neat, I can sleep in them for a week at a time and then take them out for just one night for a rest, but I also am replacing the lenses of my glasses with the RIGHT prescription! It’s so nice to be able to see again!! 4. I have worn contact lenses since I was thirteen years old. I am seriously considering Lasik surgery! Anyone out there have it done and want to tell me their story? 5. I am making a date with Big D this weekend to see Tristan & Isolde! This movie looks so good! I’ve seen the previews and the music video by Gavin DeGraw is wonderful!! Click on the link and listen to the song….it’s awesome!
6. I’m considering going to school. I figure since everyone else in this household is in school in one form or another I should be also. I’ll keep you posted on further developments. 7. I could really care less that Angelina and Brad are expecting! 8. Don’t get me wrong, I like both of them. Great actors, but I don’t care what they do in their personal life. 9. I wonder what celebrities are thinking when they put up such a fuss to hide things? They live their lives in the limelight, they choose to do this so why act mad when they are photographed or approached? That’s always puzzled me. 10. I once was face to face with Troy Aikman, from the Dallas Cowboys. It was a pre-season game, and the players were coming off the bus and a little boy, about 8 years old asked him for his autograph on his football card. Troy told the kid no and walked away. I was furious and called Troy an arrogant jerk. Whether he heard me or not, I don’t know, but I felt better. Never could look at the guy again without seeing the disappointment of that little boy. 11. If there was one “star” I’d love to meet it would be Bette Midler. She just seems like the kind of gal who would be the greatest best friend to have.
13. Every night for the last week or so I have woken up at 3:30, what’s up with that? It’s like my internal alarm clock goes off and my eyes pop open and yep, it’s 3:30! It’s really starting to tick me off! Even when I take a Lunesta, I still wake up…..something’s up, I’m just not sure what. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! |
12. I’ve seen Bette in concert….it was awesome! When she sang “The Rose” it brought tears to my eyes. It is my favorite song. The author of that song, went to college with my old boss, he’s now a Methodist minister. I thought that was neat. Get the Thursday Thirteen code here!

My daughter has been doing the 3.30 / 4am wake up thing for the past month – hence why I am posting this comment at 4.36am my time….lol!

My wife and I considered Lasik but then we were filling out the paperwork and signing the waivers and there were so many disclaimers and warnings, we just looked at each other and said “why are we doing this?” and cancelled our appointments! :| That was a while ago, though, so I’m sure it’s safer now with fewer side-effects! My 13 are up!

I can understand the waking up thing this is why I take Ambien, good luck with the sleeping and enjoy the movie I want to see that also.

Bette Milder is so cool. She’s strong, funny and not afraid to be herself (er, her movie star self? Maybe we should invade her privacy and find out. lol)

I had Lasik surgery in 2001 after wearing glasses for 17 years. I have never regretted it and had no problems at all. My vision is still 20/20 and doing great.
It was difficult to read for the first couple of days but after that, Fabulous! Even driving at night is better.

Hooray for vision improvements! That’s really cool.

I have worn glasses since I was about 10, and contacts since I was 14. I would LOVE to get the lasik, but my eye doc basically told me I waited too long. My eyes are aging, and I am not both nearsighted, and a bit farsighted! If I got the surgery, I’d still need glasses to read. It’s not worth it to me.
BUT, I have always wanted to wear the extended wear contacts! Please let me know how much you like them in a few weeks!! I’ve heard pros and cons, and would love to hear your take on them!
