We take turns so we can watch each other open and ohh and ahh as we see what the other has opened. I love it when my 20 year old gets excited because he gets something he didn’t expect!
Or when Miss Priss opens a package and I see that Santa did a perfect job picking the right jacket and she loves it.

After all the presents were torn into and the mess was cleaned up….by Big D! What a man! We all got ready and went to church for Christmas Day service. A lovely way to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
Once we got back home everyone was starving, so I hit the kitchen running. I had prepared my Praline Sweet Potatoes (thank you again Jennifer for that recipe) the night before, so I popped that and the dressing in the oven to warm up. Prepared the corn casserole (again thanks, Jennifer). Sliced the ham, warmed the rolls, well…….you get the idea….it was the first Christmas dinner I prepared all by myself. And I did pretty darn good if I say so!
As we sat in the dining room we gave thanks for this year, for all God has blessed us with and for each other and for our families who we couldn’t be with. It was a wonderful time with each other. And man did we eat way too much!
The kids offered to clear the table and clean the kitchen for me as an added Christmas gift to me….did I tell you I have the greatest kids in the world?

Miss Priss & Bubba
Though we couldn’t be with our families this Christmas, this holiday was wonderful. It was stress free, we enjoyed every moment of it and we, as a family unit, bonded just a little more, if that’s possible.

I’m so glad you posted a picture of your family. You look lovely! Congrats on a successful dinner! I was smart. I invited over someone and HE cooked the dinner. (Everyone was really glad about that as they know I’m a pretty bad cook!) But I’m a nice person, so I make up for it! Happy New Year to you and your family. Michele sent me this time, but you know I’d be here on my own anyway!

Hi Yellow Rose! I saw one of your comments on the Old Old Lady’s website and noticed that you also grew up in Chicago! I did too!
Anyway, if you’re interested, I posted about my Christmas yesterday. Glad to hear that yours went well.
